Little Rock, AR – Magnolia Recovery Community, a non-profit organization in Little Rock, Arkansas, dedicated to supporting individuals recovering from substance use disorders, announced on September 1, 2024, that they have been awarded $4,920 worth of naloxone from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership. Naloxone, or NARCAN®, is a low-risk medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.

Over the next year, Magnolia Recovery Community will distribute free naloxone kits across Pulaski County and surrounding areas. They will provide naloxone to families, civic organizations, and non-profit organizations. Each recipient will receive training on safe administration and tools to report naloxone saves.

“The fight against the opioid crisis requires a coordinated and sustained effort across every level of our community. This partnership with the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership empowers us to extend our reach, providing life-saving resources and education that will impact countless lives across Arkansas. Our goal is not just to save lives, but to foster a culture of recovery and resilience in every community we serve.” said Kasia Pabian, CEO of Magnolia Recovery Community.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 107,622 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2021. Any community members who want to carry naloxone to save someone from an overdose can receive free doses through this program.

“At Magnolia Recovery Community, we recognize the critical role naloxone plays in saving lives and combating the opioid epidemic. This generous support from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership will enable us to equip more individuals with this life-saving medication and provide essential training to ensure it’s used effectively,” said Chris Koone of Magnolia Recovery Community.

Barry Hyde, Pulaski County Judge, and Frank Scott, Mayor of Little Rock, have expressed their strong support for this initiative, emphasizing its importance in combating the opioid crisis within our communities.
