Hope Movement Coalition Receives $41,328.00 in Overdose Reversal Medication Naloxone from the Arkansas Overdose Recovery Partnership
Yellville, AR – Hope Movement Coalition, an organization of families affected by illicit drug and Fentanyl poisoning deaths in all 75 Arkansas counties announced Monday that they have been awarded over $41,328.00 worth of naloxone from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership. Naloxone, or (NARCAN®), is a low-risk medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. Over the next year, Hope Movement Coalition will distribute over 1,000 free kits of naloxone across Washington and Pulaski Counties. They will provide naloxone to families, civic organizations, and non-profit organizations. Each recipient will receive training on safe administration and tools to report naloxone saves. “Each overdose represents not only a statistical figure but a life in jeopardy and a family in crisis,” says Staci James, Executive Director of the Hope Movement Coalition. “Behind every statistic lies a story of suffering, loss, and the potential for tragedy. The toll on emergency services, healthcare providers, and community support networks is significant, straining resources and impeding efforts to address other pressing issues within the county. By providing access to naloxone, our organization can play a vital role in preventing needless deaths and reducing the burden on emergency responders and hospitals, thus preventing more families’ suffering.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 107,622 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2021. Any community members who want to carry naloxone to save someone from an overdose can receive free doses through this program.

ABOUT HOPE MOVEMENT COALITION: Hope Movement Coalition provides supportive services for families who have lost a loved one to substance use disorder or fentanyl poisoning with an emphasis on the mental health and overall well-being of each family member. The organization utilizes the Clinical Case Management Model; after an overdose or fentanyl poisoning death, grieving families will be assigned a case manager and paired with trauma trained parent/sibling peers. The program will cover all 75 counties in the state of Arkansas. Case managers and peers assess family members’ critical needs, then connect them with resources to reduce their chances of experiencing a mental decline and/or substance misuse due to their grief. Hope Movement Coalition’s mission is to provide family care navigation and emotional support through the loss of a loved one due to illicit drug and fentanyl poisoning deaths.
ABOUT THE ARKANSAS OPIOID RECOVERY PARTNERSHIP: The Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership (ARORP), an initiative of the Association of Arkansas Counties and the Arkansas Municipal League, represents a network of organizations committed to providing support for Arkansans in recovery, neighbors suffering from a substance misuse disorder, and families who have experienced loss due to the opioid epidemic. The Partnership oversees the strategic disbursement of opioid settlement dollars at the city and county levels. Learn more at: www.arorp.org
