Arkansas Pharmacists Association receives $78,584.77 in settlement dollars

The Arkansas Pharmacists Association has received $78,584.77 to train pharmacists to take an active role in decreasing Arkansas’s opioid prescribing rate.

Arkansas has the second highest prescribing rate in the nation, meaning that Arkansas prescribes more opioids per 100 people than almost any other state in the country.

There are 5 areas in Arkansas with 12 counties that have a prescribing rate of over 100 prescriptions per 100 people. This is more than double the 2020 national average of 43.3. To lower prescribing rates in these areas, the Pharmacists Association will host trainings in Ouachita, Baxter, Garland, Craighead, and Phillips counties.
